How to Use a Categorical Essay Topics List
How to Use a Categorical Essay Topics ListBefore writing a categorical essay, you should have a few things organized before you get started. Your topic list will be the basis for the content of your paper. It is like the skeleton on which you will build your body. That being said, it is essential that you create your topic list in advance, in order to be able to know where you are heading. So how do you make use of your categorical essay topics list? While making use of it, you will be able to focus your thinking more precisely. You will also be able to identify your strengths and weaknesses. This is very helpful because it helps you achieve more focus.By writing your topic list, you are already in control of your essay. In this way, you can define your own topic. However, if you don't put the key information together in order, you might end up with a paper that is less coherent. This is because if you start with an unfocused list, it is very easy to lose focus and you will not be abl e to achieve the level of clarity required to produce good quality work.By putting all of your main points into categories, you will be able to organize them correctly. This will help you capture the attention of your reader. It will also be easier to see how much information you can put into your paper. In addition, once you have chosen your topic's list, the next step is to consider how to organize the information you are going to put into your paper. How many paragraphs should you include? How many sentences? In addition, should your essay be divided into sections? All of these things will affect the length of your paper. For this reason, before you write your paper, you should set a general theme for your writing, to avoid running into a dead end. There are many different ways to arrange your topics. One of the easiest ways is to group them by the types of subjects they pertain to. For example, if you are writing a paper about baseball, you could group your topics into the topic of baseball, history, sport and so on. You could also break down your topic into subtopics: what is a baseball trainer, a baseball stadium, and so on.Finally, if you prefer a more informal style, you could choose to split the categories into smaller ones, such as geography, science, business, art, philosophy and so on. However, make sure that your categories do not form too many categories, as this will cause your essay to become too cluttered.
An Autobiography Example For Your Self Portion of Your Story
An Autobiography Example For Your Self Portion of Your StoryIn recent years, autobiography examples have proliferated. Yes, there are the famous names like Steve Jobs, but there are just as many more of us out there, searching for inspiration. This new category of writings for young, budding entrepreneurs seems to include many such examples of your life. You may read one or two good ones. But many will probably look like, well, written out sentences. All the quick books that you see on the news were written by a writer from a large advertising agency, advertising agencies are basically huge advertising companies that often have hundreds or thousands of writers churning out whatever the client needs. Just like any other type of business, people tend to write the best advertisement copy they can think of for whatever the client is selling. So instead of dealing with these clients, they will, well, write about their clients! But let's be honest: many of these famous books are worthless bec ause the writer was not sitting in a particular time and place. That is what most of the famous authors, including Thomas Pynchon, write, anyway.Yet there are several recent examples of self-written accounts of you. For example, if you're a comedian, you may be able to write something that perfectly reflects your thought process or your humor, if that's the source of your humor. On the other hand, if you are an athlete, you may write about your favorite day playing a sport. However, in writing for the masses, if you're not able to do that, then a beginning author might be better off using any of the many good home-written software programs or other product solutions. These are provided at no cost, so you can spend your time and money in other creative areas. If you look online, you will find thousands of excellent examples of writing for anyone who wants to get a little bit out there. But make sure you go to a good online training program and have a good mentor to guide you along the way.

William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet - 1124 Words
Shakespeare on Love ââ¬â A Response to Baz Luhrmannââ¬â¢s Romeo + Juliet Omid Jafari English September 10, 2015 Shakespeare on Love ââ¬â a Response to Baz Luhrmannââ¬â¢s Romeo + Juliet To assess Baz Luhrmann s use of setting in his film, Romeo + Juliet, we can begin by contrasting the film with the play as it was originally performed in the 16th-century theatre. The key difference between the manner in which the film and the play deal with location is that the film is primarily an image-intensive medium that can visually show the audience the locale. Shakespearean drama, on the other hand, was written to be heard as an auditory experience. Scene One: Opening Scene At the beginning of the film there is a small television screen in the center of the screen. A newsreader is reading the prologue from Romeo and Juliet. It grabs your attention because the newsreader is talking in old English. It makes sure the viewers are listening and makes Shakespeare s text seem relevant to the modern world. There is a change of scene, with a long shot of two towers one with Capulet on top of it and one with Montague. These are the names of the two feuding families. This shows the two families are very important and powerful. It also emphasizes the importance of the feud. The music is dramatic, it makes you feel like the film will be action packed. When the music ends the words two star crossed lovers is shown, this is from the prologue. The screen then goes black and in white letters it saysShow MoreRelatedWilliam Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet1287 Words à |à 6 PagesLizzy Baginski English Composition 2 Mr. Spera March 10, 2015 Romeo and Juliet Research Paper The movie Romeo and Juliet is a modern classic film that took place in 1996. It was among Shakespeare s most popular plays during his lifetime and, along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers. Romeo and Juliet belongs to a tradition of tragic romances stretching back to antiquity. Its plot is based on an Italian tale, translated into verse as The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562, and retold in prose in Palace of Pleasure by William Painter in 1567. Shakespeare borrowed heavily from both but, to expand the plot, developed supporting characters, particularly Mercutio and Paris. Believed to have been written between 1591 and 1595, the play was first published in a quarto version in 1597, but this text was of a poor quality, and later editions corrected it, conforming it more closely with Shakespeare s original. Shakespeare s use of his poetic dramatic structure (especially effects such as switching between comedy and tragedy to heighten tension, his expansion of minor characters, and his use of sub-plots to embellish the story) has been praised as an early sign of his dramatic skill. The play ascribes different poetic forms to different characters, sometimes changing the form as the character develops. Homeless and deinstitutionalization Essay Example For Students
Homeless and deinstitutionalization Essay Deinstitutionalization- a term popularized in the mid fifties to early seventies, was an experiment involving the release of some 830,000 mental patients. By reducing state mental hospitals by 60%, this ideology was found very appealing by Liberals due to mental patients receiving their freedom (Website 1). It was also liked by conservatives because of the large amount of money that would be saved by cutting the mental health budget. A very debatable question arises when analyzing this, and the upsurge of homelessness. Is the increase of homelessness due to deinstitutionalization? I believe that homelessness is not a result of deinstitutionalization, but rather in the way it has been implemented. Approximately 20-25% of the single adult homeless population suffers from some form of severe and persistent mental illness (Website 2). According to the Federal Task Force on Homelessness and Severe Mental Illness, only 5-7% of the mentally ill homeless need to be institutionalized (Website 2). A majority of mentally ill can live within the community with the appropriate supportive housing options (Website 2). That is where the problem lies. The mentally ill individuals, who have been dependent on all aspects of an institution, are being thrown into a community with little help or guidance. The importance of the distribution of psychoactive medication and financial support were perceived, but the significance of helping to create a community status role for the mentally ill was overlooked. Once this became apparent, community mental health centers were very resistant to providing services for them. States were also extremely reluctant to distribute funds for these community-based services (Website 3). There are also several aspects of institutionalism that were not recognized in the early stages of deinstitutionalization. First, observations of patients that spend a substantial amount of time in a hospital prove that one develops institutionalism. This is a syndrome characterized by lack of initiative, apathy, withdrawal, submissiveness to authority, and excessive dependence on the institution (Website 3). It has also been found that some of these reactions caused by external stimulation are qualities of the disease itself. One of the most important factors, that was disregarded by the simple minded individuals who helped bring about deinstitutionalization, is what left these mentally ill people unable to work, support themselves, cope with community, and ideally make them feel somewhat like a member of the community. These findings definitely support the drift theory, which states that upper class mentally ill will drift downward into lower class neighborhoods. This class transition then increases the rate of mental illness in that neighborhood. Once released from an institution a mentally ill person, without the support of the community and much needed medication, might find themselves feeling very scared and threatened by interactions with the community. This leads us to another problem, which is crime and the mentally ill. About one thousand people in the U. S. are murdered by severely mentally ill people who are not receiving treatment. These killings are about 5% of all homicides nationwide, and help show once again how important it is to follow all the steps of deinstitutionalization. How do you charge someone with a crime that suffers from a severe mental illness? The insanity defense refers to that branch of the concept of insanity, which defines the extent to which men accused of crimes may be excused of criminal responsibility because of their mental illness. The final decision on whether an individual is mentally ill or not rests solely on the jury, who gets their information drawn from the testimony of expert witnesses. These are usually professionals in the field of psychology. .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .postImageUrl , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:hover , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:visited , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:active { border:0!important; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:active , .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u380fa30d0f2dfe86bb42045b026db0db:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Civil Disobedience Essay The result of such a decision is what places these individuals in a mental facility, incarceration, or a release. Due to these factors above, there a many problems that arise by the existence of the insanity defense. Problems such as the possibility of determining mental illness, justifiable placement of judged mentally ill offenders, and the overall usefulness of such a defense. Insanity is a legal definition, not one of medical origin. In other words insanity and mental illness are not synonymous. Only some mental illness constitutes insanity. Because of this, there are problems in applying a medical theory to a legal matter. One test .

Recycling Deprivation free essay sample
The chapter to be analyzed in this report is the # 9 ââ¬Å"teenage births: recycling deprivationâ⬠, and the data come from 20 fonts from 1989 to 2006. Whatââ¬â¢s the model? In a simplified manner, the authors identify the following model: and exemplifies it through a gradient in teenage birth rates by household income, from poorest to richest.Itââ¬â¢s also interesting to see in the study the correlation of household income vs. teenage births in some countries around the world, as demonstrated below: Teenage Births ââ¬Å"One and a quarter million teenagers become pregnant each year in the rich OECD countries and about three quarters of a million go on to become teenage mothers. The differences in teen birth rates between countries are striking. In the USA the teenage birth rate is 52. 1 per 1000 women aged 15-19, more than ten times higher than Japan, which has a rate of 4. 6. â⬠Teenage motherhood is part of the inter-generational cycle of deprivation and social exclusion, but dont limited to these. We will write a custom essay sample on Recycling Deprivation or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Furthermore, we should consider others reason such as: * Religion (predominant Catholics countries) * Race (African-Americans, Hispanic, etc) * Education (poor school performance, poor school attendance, low maternal education and no sexual orientation) * Family (family situations with regular conflict between members , violence and sexual abuse in childhood, family history of teenage pregnancies, unstable housing, arrangements , fathers absence) * low self-esteemWhatââ¬â¢s my construct? The Spirit Level argues that the difference in earnings between richest and poorest in developed societies is the source of teenage births, I agree with the authors that household income is the starting point, but I donââ¬â¢t agree the way that they formulate the hypotheses ââ¬Å"household income cause teenage birthsâ⬠. The book charts how inequality, not average income, is the more accurate predictor of signs of distress in developed countries, for example. Also, they demonstrated that when average income levels reach a certain level, increases in wealth cease to have any impact on well-being.For me, lack of education (caused by unequal household income), plus others components mentioned above, are the main reasons of the problem. Based on my analyses as well, and as described in the book, I saw another important component: the ââ¬Å"Futureâ⬠of these families: teenage births and their children. The authors are very assertive when they mentioned their ââ¬Å"future bleakâ⬠, and I also agree with them that these problems cannot be solved without first addressing the underlying structures of inequality.Doing a research (please see detail in the exhibit 1), I read that from 2007 to 2009 the teen birth rate declined 8% in US. Of course, they didnââ¬â¢t mention that number of births declined almost 8% as well, but go deep in my analyses I saw that ââ¬Å"teen birth rate vs. # birthâ⬠has been declined during the last 20 years, and the most important I saw that GDP has been increasing and even during 2008 crisis, the ââ¬Å"teen birth rate vs. # birthâ⬠still decreasing. Conclusion Correlation between components, statistical model, data of information are ery important topics for a measuring , but I donââ¬â¢t understand that this is main objective of the book (maybe I was not been critic enough); for me the main reason and the most contribution of ââ¬Å"The Spirit of Levelâ⬠are to create discomfort on people, society and government and the authors got it, as we can see reading many articles and debates about all themes. Exhibit 1: Teen birth rate hits historic low Posted at 11:30 AM ET, 02/ 2/2011 By Rob Stein The long decline in teen births, which had stalled for two years, seems to be back on track, federal health officials announced Wednesday. The teen birth rate declined 8 percent between 2007 and 2009, hitting a historic low of 39. 1 births per 1,000 teens ages 15 to 19, according to a new analysis from the National Center for Health Statistics. National Center for Health Statistics/CDC Moreover, the rates fell significantly for teens in all age groups and all racial and ethnic groups, pushing the rate for each age group and for nearly all race and ethnic groups to the lowest levels ever reported, according to the analysis. The new statistics confirm the governments preliminary analysis of the national data that was released in December. That showed the birth rate had dropped 6 percent between 2008 and 2009the second year in a row that the birthrate among teens fell. The 8 percent two-year decli ne bolstered hopes that an alarming 5 percent increase over the two previous years was an aberration. The birth rate for young teens ages 15 to 17 fell 6 percent between 2008 and 2009, the largest single-year drop since 2001. The rate for older teens, ages 18 and 19, also fell 6 percent, which was the largest single-year decline since 1972.The number of births to teenagers in 2009 fell to 409,840, which is the fewest since 1946 and 36 percent fewer than in 1970, which was the highest in history. The reason for the record low remains unclear. But some experts have attributed it to the recession, noting that the overall fertility rate as well as the total number of births in the United States fell a second straight year in 2009 as well. Others, however, suggested that the intense concern about the 2005 to 2007 increases and the attention it garnered may have gotten through to teens. Some data, for example, indicate that the use of birth control pills and other forms of contraception was increasing. The rise in teen pregnancies had triggered an intense debate about whether increased funding for sex-education programs that focus on encouraging abstinence may be playing a role. As a result, proponents of abstinence education welcomed the new data, saying they exonerated their approach. Critics, however, said the recession and efforts to increase contraceptive use was more likely the cause.Experts noted that despite the reduction, the teen birth rate in the United States remains far higher than that in other industrialized nations. The Obama administration has launched a $110 million teen pregnancy prevention effort that will support a range of programs, including those that teach about the risks of specific sexual activities and the benefits of contraception and others that focus primarily on encouraging teens to delay sex.

How to Write a Literacy Narrative
How to Write a Literacy Narrative I first learned to read at the age of three while sitting on my grandmotherââ¬â¢s lap in her high-rise apartment on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, IL. While flipping casually through Time magazine, she noticed how I took a keen interest in the blur of black and white shapes on the page. Soon, I was following her wrinkled finger from one word to the next, sounding them out, until those words came into focus, and I could read. It felt as though I had unlocked time itself. What Is a ââ¬Å"Literacy Narrative?â⬠What are your strongest memories of reading and writing? These stories, otherwise known as ââ¬Å"literacy narratives,â⬠allow writers to talk through and discover their relationships with reading, writing, and speaking in all its forms. Narrowing in on specific moments reveals the significance of literacyââ¬â¢s impact on our lives, conjuring up buried emotions tied to the power of language, communication, and expression. To be ââ¬Å"literateâ⬠implies the ability to decode language on its most basic terms, but literacy also expands to oneââ¬â¢s ability to read and write the world - to find and make meaning out of our relationships with texts, ourselves, and the world around us. At any given moment, we orbit language worlds. Soccer players, for example, learn the language of the game. Doctors talk in technical medical terms. Fishermen speak the sounds of the sea. And in each of these worlds, our literacy in these specific languages allows us to navigate, participate and contribute to the depth of knowledge generated within them. Famous writers like Annie Dillard, author of The Writing Life, and Anne Lammot, Bird by Bird, have penned literacy narratives to reveal the highs and lows of language learning, literacies, and the written word. But you donââ¬â¢t have to be famous to tell your own literacy narrative - everyone has their own story to tell about their relationships with reading and writing. In fact, the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers a publicly accessible archive of personal literacy narratives in multiple formats featuring over 6,000 entries. Each shows the range of subjects, themes, and ways into the literacy narrative process as well as variations in terms of voice, tone, and style. How to Write Your Own Literacy Narrative Ready to write your own literacy narrative but donââ¬â¢t know where to begin? Think of a story linked to your personal history of reading and writing. Perhaps you want to write about your favorite author or book and its impact on your life. Maybe you remember your first brush with the sublime power of poetry. Do you remember the time you first learned to read, write or speak in another language? Or maybe the story of your first big writing project comes to mind. Make sure to consider why this particular story is the most important one to tell. Usually, there are powerful lessons and revelations uncovered in the telling of a literacy narrative.Wherever you begin, picture the first scene that comes to mind in relation to this story, using descriptive details. Tell us where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing in this specific moment when your literacy narrative begins. For example, a story about your favorite book may begin with a description of where you were when the book first landed in your hands. If youââ¬â¢re writing about your discovery of poetry, tell us exactly where you were when you first felt that spark. Do you remember where you were when you first learned a new word in a second language? Continue from there to explore the ways in which this experience had meaning for you. What other memories are triggered in the telling of this first scene? Where did this experience lead you in your writing and reading journey? To what extent did it transform you or your ideas about the world? What challenges did you face in the process? How did this particular literacy narrative shape your life story? How do questions ofà power or knowledge come into play in your literacy narrative? Writing Toward a Shared Humanity Writing literacy narratives can be a joyful process, but it can also trigger untapped feelings about the complexities of literacy. Many of us carry scars and wounds from early literacy experiences. Writing it down can help us explore and reconcile these feelings in order to strengthen our relationship with reading and writing. Writing literacy narratives can also help us learn about ourselves as consumers and producers of words, revealing the intricacies of knowledge, culture, and power bound up in language and literacies. Ultimately, telling our literacy stories brings us closer to ourselves and each other in our collective desire to express and communicate a shared humanity.ââ¬â¹ Amanda Leigh Lichtenstein is a poet, writer, and educator from Chicago, IL (USA) who currently splits her time in East Africa.
